With plenty of crossed alleys, Guangzhou is a historical city full of traditionnal culture atmosphere. Located in the center of the old city area, the project tries to interpret chinese tradition trough modern architectural language and create chinese culture atmosphere to arouse people's memory of those old times. Chinese garden emphasizes flexible arrangement of various space scales.

It combines mains scenes with the theme of four seasons with a series of small scenery spots to create a dramatic spatial sequence experience . The view changes at evry turn wich enhances the sense of rythm and enriches experience in limited space.

The tea garden house has been composed on the different principes of traditional chinese dwellings who show a typology of the space arrangement with a series of courtyards. Walls separate yards clearly, this is why broke the tradionnal plan pattern and rotate part of walls in a certain angle.

Irregular walls blur the boundaries of neighboor yards, create various senses of spaces and enhance the rhythm sentation of whole route. Each yards is based on one element of the Tao wich is Fire, Water, Wind, Air and earth with a particular typlogy according to the plan.

The whole project crystallizes around these elements rich in symbolism and tradition while knowing how to recompose itself according to the evolution of time.
